Thanksgiving REcap

I couldn't write this week cause I still haven't told my parents about this. It's not that I am trying to disobey them or hide my life from them but I really enjoy my blog and I think they would think this is a distraction or a waste of time (even I gotta admit it kinda is). But once my mother has an opinion, you won't hear the end of it until you change whatever you are you're doing to the way she wants.

I bought a beautiful coat today. I went to the Banana Republic in Jackson on my way back to Oxford. Everything was 25% percent off including the jackets that were already 30% off. It was a great deal and I couldn't pass it up. It was begging me to buy it.

On my way to Houston I got the toilet seat. The plane I was riding was so tiny and the seat I was sitting in was up against the bathroom. It smelled like I was sitting in the bathroom but it was the seat by itself and I didn't have to sit next to a stranger. On those planes the joke in my family is that since there's no first class seating, the seat by itself is the first class seat. The seat by itself next to the toilet is not a first class seat cause people waiting in line for the bathroom try to make small talk with you. That's not first class.

I got my taco and kolache fix in Texas. But a lot has changed in Texas since I left. There's a huge building that kinda popped up across mt high school. You can't talk on your cell phone in school zones. Which I could care less about. Plus it just feels different. Plus the news is more legit in Houston. The anchors here never get all the camera changes and the people they interview for their stories here always seem to be a little unreliable. Also, I had Ritter's while I was home. Ritter's never disappoints.

I'm getting sleepy now and my bed looks really comfortable.

College Traditions I Don't Understand

OK! it's finally Friday so I can relax. I'd thought since Ole Miss has some game day traditions that some people find confusing I'd talk about both the traditions here and some of the other traditions that my friends from other schools talk about.

Ole Miss has two main traditions on game day. One is dressing up for the games. I like buying new dresses but it can be kinda uncomfortable to wear a dress when it's really cold or really hot. This tradition adds a little bit of class to game day so it makes the experience kinda special. the second tradition is the grove where everyone goes to a kinda park in the middle of campus and parties and drinks. Drinks a lot. It fun and everyone has a easy-up set up and food and drinks. Did I mention drinks? These traditions are fun but some of my friends go to schools with traditions I just don't get. Some traditions are just dumb.

1) A&M- howdy. OK so I went to A&M for yearbook camp and I hated this tradition. It seemed more like a way for guys to hit on girls under the disguise of tradition. It also seemed like someone who worked for A&M was like, "Hey let's make up a tradition cause we don't have enough!" And this is what they came up with. And it's stupid and pointless.

2) LSU- Geaux. I can't spell, but damn this is not even close. And it's stupid and unnecessary. Also even spellcheck does not recognize the word geaux.

3)A&M- standing up during the game. Yep A&M makes the list twice. I know they are standing in case the team needs a 12th man. NEWSFLASH: The team is not gunna run out of players. In fact they give people scholarships to play football. Let the boys earn their free ride. You can sit down. And it's stupid and tiring.

4) UH- the cougar hand sign. The "cougar paw" looks like the shocker. And it's stupid and offensive.

5) OU- jumping into that damn lake. It's cold outside get out of the lake!!!! Jumping into a lake will not help you win. sorry. And it's stupid and cold.

OK it's two am and I'm tired night, so I'm cutting the list short.

busy, busy, busy

I am so busy today and I have a lot of homework, so I'll keep it short. I'll be really busy today and tomorrow but I can relax Friday and Saturday. Thanksgiving week is next week and we get the whole week off. Yay! But everyone wants to see me so I feel like my time off is slowly being chiseled away. I want to see everyone badly, but my parents want to see me too. Also, I'm way behind on the whole hair dying/cutting, manicure and eye doctor so that's like a half of a day's worth of errands. I hate doing errands but at least my mom will probably do my laundry for me. And I'll get Mexican food. I'll write as soon as I'm not as busy.

last week to "Make it Work"

OK, I've been doing homework for about an hour now and I"m already over it. I'm gonna take a break and write a blog so I don't go nuts.

Oh, yesterday I was sitting at a study desk in the library and I saw carved into the desk a sorority sister's name. One person said she was a whore, one person said she had herpes and one person said they loved her. It was funny. This whole going to the library thing has become somewhat of a habit for me. I get a lot more done here than a in my room. Mostly because my roommate is a huge distraction and constantly talks on the phone at high volumes. Also, my room smells weird to me now. I think I need to get an air freshener or something. Also, I need to clean up my half of the room. It's not dirty, it is just really cluttered.

I can not wait until this weekend. First game against LSU, then the next day I get to go home. If Ole Miss plays like they did this weekend, we might have a chance at winning!

As, much as I love it here, I really miss my family. a lot. I'm really close to my parents and grandma and it's hard to be so far away. I don't want them to think I am far away cause I don't love them or I think I have a bad relationship with them. It's just that Ole Miss really seamed to have everything I was looking for. I also worry about my grandma a lot. It was much more comforting to be around the corner from her, so if anything happened I could help her. I really miss just going over to her house and having the satisfaction of knowing that she was Ok and not lonely as long as I was there. Now, I constantly worry about her trying to go down the street to get her mail or when my parents are going to take her to the grocery store or out shopping next. Now, I'll stop being all depressing.

Also I get to see my baby Yerds on Monday! Yay! I'm not really sure what time the class meets or how I"m going to get into school, but hopefully it will all work out. I'm thinking cookie cake. Somehow, my mom found out about how much the Yerds love me. I had told her how much I loved being in yearbook last year, but she heard about how everyone calls me "Crafty" and how the Yerds still talk about me. She was pretty proud of me so thanks guys for making me look "cool" to my mom. But then again my mom thinks using the words "rad" and "tight" are cool.

I feel much more relaxed now. I think I'll go back to doing my homework. Blogging is a really good stress reliever, so I'm gunna keep doing it. Also the title is for all the other Project Runway fans out there but I'm so behind on the current season. The people just aren't at talented this season anyways.

TOO MANY TESTS!!!!!

I haven't written anything in a while, but I just had too many tests. Oh! I went shopping today! YAY! I just went to see something new but they had a Sephora there. Sephora is one of those places where I walk in and I know that everything in the world is alright. A inner peace comes over me and i can make purchasing decisions clearly and easily. The only other place that makes me feel like that is the shoe department of Nordstrom. In case you're wondering, I got liquid, glitter eyeliner and Benefit crease-less shadow/liner. Benefit is my absolute favorite make-up brand. They make a lot of really pretty colors and neat products like under eye brighteners and cheek/lip stains. Also, their perfumes smell wonderful. But enough about my make-up obsession.

Also, I finally got to go to a Target. There is no Target in Oxford, only Walmart. And everyone knows Target is far superior to Walmart.

This week was also Theta Encore and I spent Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday doing that. Like, until midnight and then starting on my homework after that. I was pretty stressed. Also, the people who were like training us kinda took all of the fun out of dancing. Like, until I was completely miserable. booooooooooo. But I did get to dress-up as a sailor. I love dressing up.

I'm coming home next Sunday!!!!! I miss Katy a lot. I miss my family a lot too.

Funny Story Alert! So, Tuesday was sex ed day in biology. Class started off with a slide show that included very graphic pictures of STD infected body parts. Hint: When the TA says, "This slide show is graphic. Really, a girl in one of my earlier classes passed out." That's when you put your head down and look at the desk. Do not look up. Ever. Ever. I looked up at the wrong slide, the body part I saw was unrecognisable. It was sick. And kinda funny to hear other people's reactions. Then we tested how much water a condom could hold before it burst. Ours held 8 liters of water until it burst and 2 liters of the condom water ended up on my shirt. Also, did I mention that this condom was covered in "jelly" i.e. lube. Walmart brand lube. They wouldn't even spring for the name brand stuff. So I basically had lube and water all over my shirt.

Ok, it's like 2:30 am, my roommate is snoring and it's time for me to go to sleep.

XOXO,
Lauren

Sorry, I've always wanted to do that.

Got a Pic!

I felt like I wasn't a true blogger until I had a picture. Of course I fixed it a little cause of a the creepy people on the internet, but it is me and now I feel like a real blogger.

So, for sorority, you get a big sister and they have been giving us gifts and leaving us clues as to who we are for the past to days, and tonight we find out who they are. They leave you a little poem about all the stuff they know about you and some clues as to who they are, but sometimes they lie in there clues, so they are really not clues at all if the clues are lies. Well, in the poem my "big sis" wrote me she said she couldn't find any dirt on me. That's cause I don't go out and and act a fool. So, there's the answer. Don't act a fool, and there's no dirt.

I have so much to do tomorrow. It's kinda overwhelming. I had to make a list so I wouldn't forget anything.

Also, I was in my dorm's community bathroom today and I heard a page turn in stall next to me. That's right ya'll some girl brought a magazine to the community bathroom to read on the toilet. I wish I could make that up.

Also, I had taken a shower before my 8 o'clock class and when I got to class, the guy sitting next to me said I smelled nice. It really made my day.

That's pretty much it.

Party in the USA is just so catchy.

Today I found out Ben and Jerry aren't gay. Jerry has a wife and a hot son. Ben has a wife. Everything I know is wrong. I guess that's what you get for watching documentaries on famous ice cream people. I always thought they were lovers but they are just hippie friends.

Also, I had my first blackjack taco. I gotta say it was delicious. It was a little spicier than a regular taco. But a good spicy.

Tomorrow is Monday. booo. Saturday was Halloween and is was fun, but tomorrow is back to the daily toil.

My dad is coming to his last Ole Miss football game this weekend. And then I won't see any family for two weeks after that. Which is not that bad considering how far away from home I am. My dad is pretty cool for driving all that way just to see me.

Sorry my weekend wasn't that interesting. I mean it was Halloween and all but I don't want to talk about anything that could get anyone in trouble, so I'll stay away from that.

This post is really short. Almost not worth putting anything up. I haven't forgotten about yall, I just haven't done anything interesting lately. Sorry.

Don't Be Tardy for the Party!

If any of yall have seen Real Housewives you'll know what I'm talking about. Basically, it's the most annoying but wonderfully bad song ever.

Tonight, I ate at the sorority house for dinner. It was breakfast for dinner and it was so freakin' good. Like seriously delicious. If you aren't really thinking about a sorority next year, the food should make you think twice. (for my younger friends) Let me just put it this way: there is a frozen yogurt machine in the dining room. Now, that's legit.

Tomorrow is Friday! yay! This weekend is Halloween. I like dressing up, but I think a lot of people are going to get really drunk here. I don't really like that. But, my roommate is going home for Halloween so, I'll get the room to myself, which is kinda peaceful and nice sometimes. But I would never want to be without a roommate all the time, cause I don't like those little unexplainable noises at night.

So the soap in the bathroom ran out a couple of weeks ago, and they refuse to re-fill it. Now that is a scary part about Halloween! Thank God for a personal supply of hand sanitizer and soap.

Also, I have been thinking about getting my cartilage pierced. My parents would be so mad, but if that's the extent of my rebellion, they should consider themselves lucky.

I hope everyone has a kick-ass Friday!!

You Know You Love Me, XOXO Crafty

The football game was soooo much fun!!!!! First of all it was perfect weather cool, but sunny. Also, we won, which is really nice to see cause Taylor almost never won. I just had a really great time. The Grove is absolutely a unique tradition that is so much fun and I feel like I was missing out have made it 18 years without seeing it. I hope other schools have stuff like this, because it really adds to the college experience. The town of Oxford is cute but it is missing a lot of stuff i had back in Katy. Like Target, my kitty, HEB, and my queen-sized bed.

I'm typing this while wearing my new Snuggie. My arms are nice and warm, just like the commercial. It's pretty much the coolest thing ever. I don't care what anyone else says because they don't know how freezing my dorm room is. So there world.

Also, fight now I'm watching Legally Blonde which is one of my favorites. It is actually really funny if you pay attention to the little jokes. Seriously, I have seen this movie so many times, I can quote it word for word. Maybe I'm lame for liking this movie but it's just cute and kinda funny and not too deep.

Ok, so one of the major news stories in Memphis is about this woman who left her two and three year old sons home alone and when there house caught on fire one died immediately and the other one died today, a week later. This story is soo sad and makes me so angry. That woman was so irresponsible and she deserves what ever punishment she gets for this. Now, I'll get of the soap box.

Also my roommate has been on the phone for like three hours straight tonight. It's kinda annoying, cause its hard to sleep when she gets calls at two o'clock in the morning and then talks for like an hour and she never goes out in the hallway or to the floor's lounge. But she keeps her side of the room clean and so I'll probably never say anything to her.

Finally, I changed my nail polish color today. My nails are dark purple, almost black. I was at Walmart (again, no Target) and I really liked this color. Plus since it's almost black, I kinda feel like a rock and roll bad ass. A little.

OK. I'm sleepy now and I have a 8am Stats class tomorrow.

Lauren

Oh. And the title is a tribute to Gossip Girl. The story line was pretty bad tonight, but I loved the costumes.

Bloggie McBloggerson

My dad is coming to visit tomorrow, so that means I need to do all those chores college kids put off until the day before the get a visit from their parents. So tomorrow/tonight I will be taking out the trash, doing laundry, and cleaning up my room. He also gets the honor of paying my sorority bill tomorrow, so maybe I can distract him a little with my impressive and clean room.

Also, I have to say I was pretty disappointed in The Office tonight. I just couldn't get into it. And it wasn't as good as the wedding episode.

Game is Saturday! But i probably won't blog again till Sunday though.

Wow. Today, I didn't want to get up from my desk so I turned on the web cam on my computer and checked my hair in the web cam. I guess that's a whole new level of laziness.

Also, they put up the new addition of the Hotty Toddy Potty Times. They put up these signs on the back of the doors to the toilet and it's like a little newspaper in the toilet. Hence, the name. It's actually pretty sad. They have "party smart" tips and "fun" things to do in Oxford. But what I found funny was the statistic that said that 65% of students have never done anything the regret while drinking. Considering that 35% is more than the percentage of students that are actually legal to drink, that's a pretty sad statistic. And that that was the percentage that was willing to share with Ole Miss that they got so wasted, they did something they did something they regretted. Ok. I'm getting off my soapbox now.

Ok. I'm sleepy now. Sorry If my day boring.

Oh, Katelyn was right. Thanks yerds for reading my ramblings!

STRESSED out

So I had an incredible amount of homework yesterday! and today almost none. I was felt really stressed trying to finish all of it before my classes. Have y'all ever woken up with that "today is gonna suck feeling"? I did. So I wore my favorite outfit today. In case y'all are wondering it's ratted out skinny jeans old converse t-shirt and flow-y/long sweater. It's my outfit that makes me feel cooler/less lame.

Also, I recently discovered that I am obsessed with wayyyy to many TV shows. Like, I feel panicked when I miss one for homework or sorority stuff. Well not really panicked, but disappointed. It is like an absurd amount of TV shows for one person. Monk, Psych, SYTYCD, Glee, America's Next Top Model, Gossip Girl, The Office, House, NCIS and then there's the embarrassing ones like 10 Things I Hate About You (cause the guy that plays Patrick is soo hott), Jon and Kate Plus 8 (I used to be Team Jon, now I'm team Kate), and 18 Kids and Counting (can you believe one person could ever birth all those kids?).

Also, you know how in the movies the black sororities have like choreographed dances to different songs? Like in Drumline? Well our sorority had a charity dinner with a black sorority and they made up a dance for us using our hand signs and taught it to us. I felt like such a gangsta/bad ass. It was awesome. Then we all danced it together. Of course I probably looked like a fool doing it, but I felt cool. And that's all that matters

Also, I have been listening to Pride and Prejudice on audiotape before I go to sleep and I feel smarter. It's really good and so much better than the movie, which I love anyways.

Ok. I'm too tired to type anymore.

Oh and shout out to Chelsea and Lauren! 2 followers!

You Will Spend 1/7 of Your Life With the Monday Blues

I had the Monday Blues today. The kind where you don't want to wake up at 7am and then come back to your dorm to sleep for three hours after class. I should be studying for my biology test tomorrow but House is on so I'll do that after this. I'll probably try to keep writing a little bit every or every other day, depending on how much homework I have. Oh CRAP some guy just woke up in the mortuary. It scared me!

Only one little funny story today: I made a special trip to Walgreens to buy a Snuggie and they were out! My disappointment was great and I'm pretty sure I was visibly upset. I told my mom about this and she said she would send one with my dad when he comes to visit on Friday. I am really excited.

To make up for my lack of stories Here's the Top 10 Things About College So Far list:

10) Shopping for all the new crap for your dorm. New bedding and going to Container Store is so fun! Really. fun.

9) New people. I had a lot of really great friends in high school but the people here don't remember that time I broke my leg last year in Sea World in San Diego on the band trip.

8) Classes. Maybe this doesn't seem like the best about college, but the classes here are sooo much easier than high school classes. Sure you have to work, but no one cares if you don't participate, show up or do homework. If you want to just sit there and let class happen around you, no one cares. Also, the work is easier my biology class is like 8th grade stuff.

7) Football games/ sporting events. It's nice to actually see your team win or have a chance at winning all while being the most sober one there. If you can stand up and walk you will always be the most sober one, which makes for a lot of entertainment.

6) Naps. Classes are more spread out so I can nap during the day.

5) Dress Code. Or lack there of. Roll out of bed pick random Nike shorts and a random t-shirt and running shoes. That's pretty much it. Also now that's it's cold there is some entertainment added to this outfit when you add leggings underneath the shorts, switch out the running shoes for Uggs and top the whole thing off with a North Face.

4) Boys. The boys are cute here. That is all.

3) Parties. I don't think I should elaborate here.

2) There's always somewhere to go and something to do. ie: parties, activities, and concerts.

1) No Supervision. I love my mom but it was so hard to do anything at home without having her ask me about a million questions. "What are your grades?, When are you going to be done?, Why are you watching TV?" I feel like I can just sit down and get stuff done here. Also, at home, I practically had to pull teeth to stay out past 12.

Comment if you want. It would help me know how many people read this because right now, I think 5 people read my blog.

First Post?

OK. So I've been thinking about starting a blog for a while and now that I made one I'm not really sure what to write. I don't really know who would want to read anything I would write and I should be doing my homework now but I feel like this would be a good way to vent and let people know what's going on in my life. I'm not a very good speller or writer but hopefully this will change things. After starting at Ole Miss in August I feel really far from all of my friends at home and since I can't talk to them, maybe a blog could serve as a stand in. Also a lot funny things happen to me and I feel like I should share them some how. Here are some recent funny things:

1) It's October and I still don't know what I'm doing when it comes to laundry. The laundry room in my dorm is in the basement and I am still completely fascinated by the whole basement concept. All these pipes hanging from the ceiling are completely interesting. I had never even been in a basement until I went into this one. Whenever I put stuff into the washing machine I STILL just throw everything in and hope for the best. And then stare at the pipes and think about how creepy basements are. It also doesn't help that I wait until I have no clean pants left.

2) I still have a hard time spelling sorority right.

3) So at this party I went to for my sorority, there were a LOT of drunk guys. This one guy was so trashed and he was dancing with a beer in his hand and he dropped his beer mid-dance and didn't even notice. He just kept dancing! And he was dancing crazy! The beer was laying in the middle of the dance floor. I should have picked it up, but to be honest, I was too distracted by his dancing and didn't want to get whatever disease he probably had. Some other frat guy put the bottle upright and then finally one of my "sisters" threw it away.

4) Also me and my roommate are soooooo different. It's really funny because we have NOTHING in common. There is pretty much nothing for us to talk about, so imagine having an infinite amount of awkward conversation almost always started by me.

5) My first class of my first day of school was intro to hospitality. So the teacher asks all the seniors to raise their hands. No seniors. All the junior raise their hands. A few juniors. All the sophomores? Tons of sophomores. Freshmen? One. It's me. How awkward and it would only happen to me. I raised my hand cause it's an intro class and there should be other freshmen, but no. So everyone stares at me awkwardly. YAY.

So maybe they weren't very funny, if you know me I'm full of little kind of funny stories. And I plan on sharing them here. Comment if you want, only, I don't want to hear about my spelling mistakes.

Peace Out,

Lauren
